Military spending is one issue that still attracts a lot of research in the economics literature. Indeed, the economics literature makes the case that military spending has an impact on economic growth through three main channels and these are the demand channel, supply channel, and the security channel.
This thesis examines the impact of miliary spending on economic growth in Jordan during the period 1980 – 2021. Using time series econometric techniques (stationarity tests, co-integration, and Vector Autoregressions (VECM), the results clearly indicate that military spending in Jordan positively and significantly affects real GDP. In addition, it is concluded that military spending, in its impact on growth, is larger than that of bank credit to the private sector, and the market capitalization of the Jordanian stock market.
الإنفاق العسكري هو أحد القضايا التي لا تزال تجتذب الكثير من البحث في الأدبيات الاقتصادية ، في الواقع تشير الأدبيات الاقتصادية إلى أن الإنفاق العسكري له تأثير على النمو الاقتصادي من خلال ثلاث قنوات رئيسية وهي قناة الطلب وقناة التوريد والقناة الأمنية.
تبحث هذه الرسالة في تأثير الإنفاق العسكري على النمو الاقتصادي في الأردن خلال الفترة 1980- 2021 و باستخدام تقنيات السلاسل الزمنية للاقتصاد القياسي (اختبارات الثبات ، والتكامل المشترك ، والانحدار الذاتي المتجه ( VECM)) ، تشير النتائج بوضوح إلى أن الإنفاق العسكري في الأردن إيجابي ، ويؤثر بشكل كبير على الناتج المحلي الإجمالي الحقيقي بالإضافة إلى أن الإنفاق العسكري تأثيره على النمو أكبر من الائتمان المصرفي للقطاع الخاص والقيمة السوقية لسوق الأوراق المالية الأردنية .
