The goal of this study is to explore the impact of empowerment on Syrian women in Za'atari camp as a result of "Refugeeism" and how it connects to their responses to harassment. By shedding light on humanitarian interventions concerning women's empowerment programs, prevention, protection, and reporting processes for SGBV, to show the impact of empowerment components in boosting women's response to harassment. The research question "How did the Refugeesim process affect women's response to harassment at Za'atari camp?" was searched using a mixed method of data collection, extensive literature review, and the researcher's own observation. The findings reveal that Refugeeism improved women's confidence and self-esteem, improved their financial condition and hence financial independence, and resulted in an elevated sense of empowerment that was only limited on an individual level. Syrian women continue to encounter difficulties and opposition from their society when it comes to reporting human rights violations such as harassment. Our findings indicate that harassment is being reported at a higher rate, but not at a rate that is comparable with their degree of empowerment. The report concludes with a list of recommendations for humanitarian organizations to ensure that the empowerment process is managed effectively and enables more responses and reporting to harmful practices, such as harassment.
الهدف من هذا البحث هو دراسة أثر "اللجوء" في تمكين المرأة السورية داخل مخيم الزعتري ودراسة دوراللجوء في استجابة النساء السوريات للتحرش. من خلال تسليط الضوء على التدخلات الإنسانية التي تمثلها برامج تمكين المرأة وبرامج وقاية المرأة وبرامج حماية المرأة والبرامج المتعلقة بالإبلاغ عن العنف الجنسي والجنساني التي تتعرض إليه النساء السوريات، وذلك بغرض إيضاح عوامل التمكين التي تعمل على تعزيز استجابة المرأة للتحرش. سؤال البحث هو "كيف أثر اللجوء على استجابة النساء للتحرش في مخيم الزعتري؟" حيث تم جمع البيانات النوعية و الكمية بالاضافة الى رصد ملاحظات الباحث نفسه. تُظهر النتائج أن اللجوء ساعد المرأة السورية في تعزيز ثقتها بنفسها وتحسين أوضاعها المالية الذي يدّل على استقلالها المالي، مما أسفر عن ارتفاع شعور التمكين على مستوى الفرد. و مع ذلك، مازالت النساء السوريات تواجهن صعوبات ومعارضات من مجتمعاتهن في الأمور المتعلقة بالإبلاغ عن انتهاكات حقوق الإنسان كالتحرش. تشير النتائج التي توصلنا إليها أن الإبلاغ عن التحرش ارتفع بشكل ملحوظ، ولكنه ليس بمعدل يمكن مقارنته بمستوى التمكين الذي تم الوصول إليه من قبلهن. يختم البحث بقائمة من التوصيات للمنظمات الإنسانية لضمان إدارة عملية التمكين بشكل فعال والقدرة على رفع مستوى الاستجابة والإبلاغ عن الممارسات السيئة والغير إنسانية، مثل التحرش.
