The purpose of the study is to shed light on the relationship between democracy and populism and to understand Trump's election and loss, the nature of his Era, to identify and analyze the reasons behind electing Donald Trump, to address the importance of finding solutions and approaches for such reasons and circumstances not to be repeated and occurring again, and to shed light on the causes of both Trump's election and loss.
This study is based on the hypothesis that the US democratic system is solid and did not lose to populism. What led to Donald Trump's victory were conditions that favoured his interests and a populist approach that arose from the failure of US institutions. It aims to answer issues about democracy and populism and how Trump became the world's superpower's president.
This thesis concluded that populism may be both a catalyst and an analyst for democracy, depending on many conditions. Although trump attained the highest post in the nation via populist tactics, the American democracy is a well-rooted political system that will only be enhanced by such experiences.
تهدف هذه الدراسة لتسليط الضوء على العلاقة ما بين الديمقراطية والشعبوية، وتعمل على تحليل ومحاولة فهم وتوضيح أسباب فوز الرئيس ترامب ابتداءا ومن ثم الحيثيات التي دارت في سدة الحكم أثناء ولايته ومن ثم الأسباب التي أدت الى خسارته لتصل الى نتائج يحاول الباحث فيها معالجة أهمية إيجاد حلول ومقاربات لهذه الأسباب حتى لا تتكرر مرة أخرى في المستقبل.
تقوم هذه الدراسة على فرضية مفادها أن النظام الديمقراطي في الولايات المتحدة صلب ولم يخسر أمام الشعبوية ، ومع ذلك، فإن ما أدى إلى انتخاب دونالد ترامب هي الظروف التي خدمت مصالحه والنهج الشعبوي الذي استثمر فشل المؤسسات المختلفة داخل الولايات المتحدة. فيما تسعى أيضا للإجابة على الأسئلة المتعلقة بالعلاقة بين الديمقراطية والشعبوية وفهم كيف أصبح ترامب رئيسًا لواحدة من القوى العظمى.
اعتمدت الرسالة على المنهجين التحليلي الوصفي والتاريخي. حيث قام الباحث بجمع المعلومات من مختلف المراجع بالإضافة إلى البيانات النوعية من خلال مراجعة عدد من الأوراق البحثية والمقالات سواء من العلماء والباحثين داخل الولايات المتحدة أو جميع أنحاء العالم. حاول الباحث بناء نظرة شمولية عبر قراءة واستقراء وتحليل هذه الأبحاث والأوراق العلمية ليبني نظرة عامة محصنة علميا، والتأكد من جودة البيانات بالإضافة الى استخدام أساليب المقارنة والتحليل بهدف الوصول الى إجابات مرضية مبنية على الحجج المنطقية والحقائق.
خلصت هذه الدراسة في نهايتها إلى أن الشعبوية يمكن أن تعمل كمحفز أو كمثبط للديمقراطية اعتمادًا على عوامل متعددة تمت مناقشتها بشكل أكبر لاحقا وإلى أنه على الرغم من وصول دونالد ترامب إلى أعلى منصب في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية باستخدام مجموعة متنوعة من الأساليب الشعبوية التي تعمل على جذب المواطن العادي والتي تتعارض في صلبها مع المبادئ التي جاءت الديمقراطية لتحقيقها ؛إلا أن الديموقراطية الأمريكية أثبتت بأنها نظام سياسي راسخ الجذور لا يمكن صقله وتقويته إلا من خلال المرور بالتجارب التي لربما يظن البعض أنها قد تشكل خطرا على النظام الديمقراطي ولكنها في الحقيقة تقويه وتصقله.
