لأن حرية الصحفيين تعكس إلى حد كبير مستوى حرية الرأي والتعبير في هذا البلد أو ذاك ، وبشكل أكثر انعكاسًا لمستوى التعددية في مجتمع أو آخر ، إنه مقياس يمكن إعادة النظر فيه عند النظر إلى مستوى عمليات التحول الديمقراطي في كل من الدولة والمجتمع ، تهدف هذه الرسالة إلى تسليط الضوء على الفجوة بين الدستور الأردني والمعاهدات الدولية والقوانين الوطنية والسياسات الحكومية المتعلقة بالصحفيين وتسليط الضوء على القيود والمعيقات التي تواجه الصحفيين في الأردن(2018-1989) . تستخدم هذه الأطروحة الرئيسية أسلوب التحليل الوصفي النوعي المتعمق و المنهج القانوني. البيانات والمعلومات التي تم جمعها من خلال المصادر الاولية والثانوية التي تعتمد عليها (أ) نهج دراسة الحالة (ب) والمقابلات شبه المنظمة.
تعتبر حرية الصحافة حرة نسبيا في الأردن وهذا يرجع بشكل رئيسي إلى التشريعات واللوائح الوطنية المتعلقة بالصحفيين والممارسات الحكومية التي تقيد وتضيق حرية الصحفي في الأردن.
أوصت هذه الأطروحة بضرورة توحيد مختلف القوانين التي تعالج القوانين الصحفية واتخاذ تدابير فورية لتعديل المواد القانونية التي تقيد حرية الصحفي وخاصة التي تسمح بفرض عقوبات على الحرمان من الحرية وضرورة سعي الحكومة لتطوير استراتيجية إعلامية جديدة ، بما في ذلك أهداف قابلة للقياس، لتشجيع وسائل الإعلام ودعم الحرية.
Freedom of journalism largely reflects the level of freedom of opinion and expression in any country. It is a measure that can be revisited when looking at the level of the processes of democratic transition in both the state and society, this thesis aims to highlight the gap between the Jordanian constitution and international treaties and the national laws and government policies related to the journalists and highlighting the limitations and restrictions facing the journalists in Jordan between 1989-2018. This master thesis uses an in-depth qualitative descriptive analysis approach and the legal approach. Data and information collected through primary and secondary resources in which it draws on (a) the case study approach and (b) semi-structured interviews. As for the conclusion, the press freedom considered as relatively free in Jordan that is mainly due to the national legislations and regulations related to the journalists and the government practices in which both restrict and limit the journalist's freedom in Jordan. This thesis recommended the need to unify the various laws dealing with the press and to make an initiate and immediate measures to amend legal articles which restrict the journalist's freedom, especially that allow the deprivation of liberty and necessity from the government to develop a new media strategy plan, including measurable goals, to promote media and support freedom.
