General Notes: During Ramadan, the ninth month of the lunar calendar that has a special significance for the Moroccans and for the rest of the Islamic community, the late King of Morocco, Hassan II (1929-1999), Commander of the Believers (Amir Al Muminin), invited the most eminent scientists (al-Ulama) in the Muslim community to give lectures with the aim of enlightening the public about the most relevant religious issues. The lectures have been broadcast on the TV, and published later as a collection. In addition, the Ramadan lectures get translated into French, English and Spanish. His successor, Mohammed VI, followed the tradition.
