The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of employing authentic educational videos on the speaking skill and attitudes of sixth grade EFL students. The study also tended to determine if teaching speaking skill by using authentic educational videos is superior to regular instruction.
For the objectives of the research, two groups of sixth-grade students from Um Al Simaq Basic School in the Naour Directorate of Education during the second semester of the academic year 2022/2023 were selected. Group one, comprised of 20 students, was selected as the experimental group, and it was taught speaking skill utilizing authentic educational videos, whilst group two, also comprised of 20 students, was designated as the control group, and was instructed using regular instruction.
Pre- and post-tests, as well as a questionnaire, were employed to evaluate the impact of authentic educational videos on students' speaking skill as well as their attitudes towards using authentic educational videos. Before beginning the experiment, Group 1 and Group 2 took a pre-test to determine their equality. Following six weeks, the identical exam is administered to both groups as a post-test to evaluate students' speaking skill development. Moreover, the experimental group was provided with a questionnaire to explore the students' attitudes toward using authentic educational videos.
The results of the study indicated that the experimental and control groups had mean scores of 69.92 and 51.18, respectively. The mean scores of the experimental group on the speaking post-test were significantly higher than those of the control group. Accordingly, a set of recommendations were provided at the end of this study.
تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى بحث أثر استخدام مقاطع فيديو تعليمية أصيلة في تطوير مهارة التحدث لدى متعلمي اللغة الإنجليزية لغة أجنبية في الصف السادس الأساسي، واتجاهاتهم نحو التعلم باستخدام الفيديوهات التعليمية الأصيلة.
وبناء عليه، تم تخصيص مجموعتين من طلاب الصف السادس في مدرسة أم السماق الأساسية لمديرية التربية والتعليم في لواء ناعور، خلال الفصل الدراسي الثاني من العام الدراسي 2022/2023 وتم اختيار المجموعة الأولى المكونة من عشرين طالباً كمجموعة تجريبية ، وتم تدريسها مهارة التحدث باستخدام مقاطع فيديو تعليمية أصيلة ، بينما تم اختيار المجموعة الثانية ، المكونة أيضًا من عشرين طالبًا ، كمجموعة ضابطة ، وتم تدريسها باستخدام الطريقة الاعتيادية.
ثم تم تطبيق الاختبارات السابقة واللاحقة ، بالإضافة إلى الاستبيان لتقييم تأثير مقاطع الفيديو التعليمية الأصيلة على مهارة التحدث لدى الطلاب بالإضافة إلى مواقفهم تجاه استخدام مقاطع فيديو تعليمية أصلية.أشارت نتائج الدراسة إلى أن متوسط درجات المجموعة التجريبية والمجموعة الضابطة 69.92 و 51.18 على التوالي ، وكان متوسط درجات المجموعة التجريبية في الاختبار البعدي أعلى بكثير من متوسط درجات المجموعة الضابطة، وبناء على ذلك تم تقديم توصيات في نهاية هذه الدراسة.
