تهدف هذه الدراسة اللغوية الاجتماعية إلى معاينة السلوك الكلامي الذي يتعلق باللهجات الرئيسية الثلاث في الأردن (البدوية والفلاحية والمدنية) لدى طلبة الجامعات الأردنية الشباب ذكورًا وإناثًا قيما يتعلق بثمانية صوامت في العربية الفصحى هي:/ض/، /ظ/، /ذ/، /ث/، /ص/، /ط/، /ق/، /ج/ والتباينات اللفظية لهذه الصوامت في اللهجات. كما تناولت الدراسة العوامل الاجتماعية كالنوع الاجتماعي والسياق والتراث اللغوي وعلاقة كل منها باختيار أفراد العينة لطريقة اللفظ، بالإضافة إلى دراسة مدى احتمالية استخدام اللغة العربية الفصحى أو اللهجات المحكية للمفردات الدينية والرسمية أو العادية. وتهدف الدراسة أيضاً إلى معرفة آراء الطلبة فيما يتعلق باختياراتهم اللغوية وإلى أي مدى تؤثر شبكات التواصل الاجتماعي والوصمة الاجتماعية والميول والتصورات الشخصية والفهم على خياراتهم اللفظية.
تم جمع البيانات من خلال اختبارين كميين: اختبار النطق واختبار القراءة الجهرية، ومن خلال خلال اختبار نوعي وهو مقابلات الروايات الشخصية. وتشير نتائج الدراسة إلى أنّ كل مجموعة من افراد العينة تعاملت، في إطار الازدواجية اللغوية في الاردن، باشكال متنوعة ولكنها مختلفة ومتداخلة مع كل واحد من المتغيرات التي تناولتها الدراسة حيث كان للجنس والموروث اللغوي والسياق والشبكات الاجتماعية تأثيرات كبيرة على أشكال المتغير المستهدف في اللهجة التي استخدموها. وتشير الدراسة إلى أن التأثير المتنامي للهجة المدنية على كلام الشباب الأردنيين وتمازج اللهجات أدى الى درجات متفاوته من عدم الإستقرار في كلام المتحدثين باللهجتين البدوية والفلاحية. ففي حين نجدهم يتحدثون بعض الكلمات بأصوات من اللهجة المدنية، نراهم في أحيان أخرى يتمسكون بنطق كلمات أخرى بالأصوات الموجودة في لهجاتهم الأصلية. وعليه، وعلى الرغم من الميل الأكثر وضوحاً عند الذكور في العينتين الفلاحية والبدوية للتمسك بأصواتهم اللهجية في
السياقات الرسمية وغير الرسمية، فإن الإناث في هاتين العينتين أبدين تأثراً متزايداً باللهجة المدنية.
This sociolinguistic study investigated the speech behaviour of young Jordanian undergraduate male and female university studentsof the three major dialectal groups in Jordan(Bedouin, rural and urban) in relation to eight Standard Arabic (SA) consonant sounds (namely /dˤ/, /ðˤ/, /ð/, /θ/, /sˤ/, /tˤ/, /q/ and /dʒ/) and their dialectal variants (DVs). The social factors gender, context and dialectal heritage were examined in relation to subjects' choice of variant. This was in addition to whether the SA realisation or other DVs are more likely to occur in religious, formal, or everyday items, the position of the SA variable within a given word and lexical conditioning. The study further aimed to establish subjects’ own perspectives on their language choices and the extent to which social networks, social stigma, personal preference and perception affect their speech.
Data were collected through two quantitative measures: an articulationtest and areading aloud task, and one qualitative measure: narrative responses.The results of the current study suggest that within the diglossic environment of Jordan, each group of subjects under examination experience diverse but multifaceted and entwined interactions with each of the variables under investigation. The study shows that as a result of the urban dialect's growing influence on the speech of Jordanian youth and hence dialect levelling, the speech of some Bedouin and rural speakers exhibits varying degrees of instability. Hence, although rural and Bedouin males are more likely to adhere to their own dialectal variants in both informal and formal contexts, non-urban females are increasingly influenced bythe urban dialect.
