Forecasting automotive spare parts in terms of demands and budgeting is considered one
of the most critical challenges for the motor industry globally. The accuracy of forecasting works as a fundamental prerequisite for strategic planning and decision-making in several departments within any corporation, including operation, procurement, maintenance, and inventory management. The amount of extracted data from processes and procedures has exponentially augmented. When these data are processed and evaluated, it yields valuable information and knowledge when patterns emerge which improves future forecasting ability. Over decades, many researchers had proposed methods in order to eliminate the associated projection in forecasting uncertainty. This work addresses the deployment of artificial neural networks (feed-forward neural network) for the development of a predictive maintenance model for automotive spare parts demands and prices, which is considered vital for automotive aftermarket trade in Jordan. By relying on 15 independent variables comprises both vehicles and spare part parameters gathered from different official governorate departments, private businesses and even captured professionals and owners’ perceptions. The findings reveal promising results in minimizing forecasting uncertainty from traditional methods, two artificial feed-forward neural networks (multi- inputs and single output) were created. For price forecasting, a model with a single hidden layer and 14 hidden neurons was developed. Whereas a single hidden layer and embed with 5 hidden neurons was shown the best performance for the demand forecasting. The study limitations as the study targeted certain types and generations of HEVs, which may lead to a decline in system enrolment in advance. As well as, measuring failure rate based on the questionnaire findings may resulted in a less accurate results.
