This book offers concise descriptions of cross-sectional imaging studies of the abdomen and pelvis, supplemented with over 1100 high-quality images and discussion of state-of-the-art techniques. It is based on the most common clinical cases encountered in daily practice and uses an algorithmic approach to help radiologists arrive first at a working differential diagnosis and then reach an accurate diagnosis based on imaging features, which incorporate clinical, laboratory, and other underlying contexts. The book is organized by anatomical organ of origin and each chapter provides a brief anatomical background of the organ under review; explores various cross-sectional imaging techniques and common pathologies; and presents practical algorithms based on frequently encountered imaging features. Special emphasis is placed on the role of computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In addition to algorithmic coverage of many pathological entities in various abdominopelvic organs, unique topics are also examined, such as imaging of organ transplant (including kidney, liver and pancreas), evaluation of perianal fistula, and assessment of rectal carcinoma and prostate carcinoma by MRI. Cross-Sectional Imaging of the Abdomen and Pelvis: A Practical Algorithmic Approach is a unique and practical resource for radiologists, fellows, and residents.

Background: Diabetics are more vulnerable to seasonal influenza complications. Seasonal Influenza vaccination is the most effective way to prevent Seasonal Influenza among diabetics. Worldwide flu vaccination is far below the target.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the knowledge, attitudes and practices among diabetic patients in Amman regarding seasonal influenza vaccination. It also aimed to investigate the motivators and the barriers to vaccination among diabetics.
Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted on a convenience sample of 342 diabetics at the Diabetes and Endocrinology outpatient clinics at the Jordan University Hospital, from January 23rd to February 24th 2019. A pilot-tested structured questionnaire was used which included four sections. The data was analyzed using Minitab software, version 18. Chi square test, fisher’s exact probability test and logistic regression analysis were applied to investigate the significance of the association between the categorical study variables.
Results: A total of 342 participants successfully completed the interviewed questionnaires .Almost one third of the participants believed that influenza is the same as common cold (32%). While 44% were aware that they were at higher risk of complications of influenza, only 42% considered vaccination as an effective means in preventing serious influenza-related complication. More than eighty percent of the participants knew about the existence of the influenza vaccine but only 19% participants were previously vaccinated. Logistic regression analysis showed that participants with positive attitude score for influenza vaccination were 3.9 times more likely to be vaccinated compared to those with negative attitude score (OR = 3.9, 95%CI. 1.4295, 10.7641, p < .004)) While Participants with good knowledge score were 12.9 times more likely to be vaccinated compared to those with poor knowledge score (OR = 12.9, 95%CI. 1.4061, 118.7637, p < .005) Moreover, participants with previous admission to the hospital due to flu are 18.6 times more likely to be vaccinated compared with those who had never been admitted to the hospital due to flu complications. (OR = 18.6, 95%CI. 1.0474, 329.2890, p < .004).Among those previously vaccinated, advice from their doctors (48%) was the main factor encouraging vaccination. The two most common reasons given by participants who had never been vaccinated before (81%) are having alternative protection (33%) and having no bad experience with influenza (32%)
Conclusions and Recommendations: The vaccination uptake was low in this study. Since the doctor’s advice was considered the most important motivator to get vaccinated, doctors need to keep educating the diabetics about the importance of receiving the influenza vaccination yearly. This will help to prevent the serious complications of influenza among diabetics like pneumonia, bronchitis, sinus infections, ear infections and poor sugar control.

A new human coronavirus, COVID-19, first appeared in China in December 2019 and soon became a pandemic. Severe symptoms after Covid-19 vary, although so-called mild covid-19 may be associated with chronic symptoms such as cough, mild fever and fatigue that may go away, and classification of symptoms by authority. system of questions, helps to determine the etiology.
The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence and potential risk factors for post-COVID-19 syndrome and also to identify symptoms and their relationship to demographic and medical characteristics in patients undergoing COVID-19 in Jordan.
This study concluded that the incidence of post-Covid-19 syndrome varies considerably according to gender and smoking habits, which is another known relationship between the type of mutated virus and post-Covid-19 symptoms, and there is a relationship between some supplements. and symptoms after Covid-19. The results of this study help to understand the factors associated with most mental and physical symptoms after Covid-19.

The collapse of communist systems in South East Europe resulted in a landscape to be newly arranged. Diverse forces compete to capture the popular energies released by the embrace of old and new identities. Deficits of modernization in a post communist nexus have deepened cultural asymmetries and challenge EU integration in new ways. Drives to rule of the “strong hand”, feod-like patron-client relations, “self-orientalization” as result of dilettante “social engineering” and unrealistic cultural politics increase the entropy of transition. Plamen K. Georgiev discusses the most controversial issues of a possible accession of Turkey into EU and its impact on a number of collective identities as Bulgaria, Macedonia, Romania, Croatia, vulnerable to Islamic fundamentalism, but also new breeds of nationalisms. This comparative study prompts apt ideas for EU coordinated national politics, fostering its cultural homogeneity and integrity in a global world of rising risks and new responsibilities.
