Title:
Key Insights into Basic Mechanisms of Mental Activity by Otto Buxbaum.
Author:
Buxbaum, Otto. author.
SpringerLink (Online service)
General Notes:
Introduction to the study of the mind, mental activity and behavior -- The S-O-R model -- Mental processes are neuro-mental processes -- Judgments are processes of feature comparison: experimental evidence -- Generalization of the process of feature comparison: set theory, neural systems -- Conclusions on determinants of behavior and implications for psychiatry, clinical psychology and psychotherapy.
A more nuanced perspective on cognition, behavior, personality, and pathology. Mind/brain. It is explained that mental activity is not possible without concepts/memory structures that exist in the brain and result from perceptual learning. Core mental activities including thinking, reasoning, and judgment are described as components of self-regulation and in terms of interacting neural systems. This framework also leads to a more specific and less stigmatizing system for classifying and diagnosing mental illnesses. This concise volume: Introduces the S-O-R (stimulus-organism-response) model of mental activity. Recasts mental processes as neuro-mental processes. Provides empirical evidence for the neural basis for judgments. Addresses ongoing mind/brain questions such as whether thinking is unconscious. Key Insights into Basic Mechanisms of Mental Activity will interest scientists doing research in psychology, psychiatry, psychotherapy, human biology/anthropology, linguistics, and neuroscience. Professors, lecturers, and instructors will find it important as a class text in these fields. And the book’s clinical implications make it useful to practitioners of psychology, psychiatry, and psychotherapy.

The utilization of the land transport sector in Jordan does not seem to be optimal where some waste is usually to occur during such complex operation that undergoes many processes, factors, and variables that affect its efficiency. This study aims to analyze and identify the significant key performance indicators namely: Cost, customer satisfaction, safety, time, and drivers’ quality that have an impact on different areas of efficiency namely: operational, technical, and managerial and to find the causes of the deficiencies in the trip utilization. The method deployed in this research was quantitative and qualitative analysis where qualitative data were gathered in form of a questionnaire from a sample set of 142 induvial working in the transport sector from five companies that work on the management level and quantitative data were gathered from historical data of the five companies during 3 months of operation. The analysis has shown that drivers’ quality was the significant key performance indicator affecting operational and managerial while other factors did not have any significant effect on any areas of efficiency as well as its found through quantitative analysis that among the five companies the load utilization averaged 97% while the distance utilization averaged 56% and that is because most of the transports are one-way delivery it is worth mentioning that some companies used empty travel for useful trips. which increased the distance utilization and finally the fleet utilization averaged 81% and it was dependent on the customer demands and vehicle downtime.
